I have even helped teams use takt to recover projects that were behind schedule. (Months in one case.) I am a builder by birth right as I am a fourth generation builder and have been in the construction industry for over 20 years. I started the first decade of my career in the trades, working for an industrial civil contractor doing mostly civil and concrete work across the US, I was a laborer, concrete mason, operator, foreman and ultimately made it to assistant Superintendent when I got burnt out from the industry. I wanted to find something else that would support me being more present for my family and didn’t grind me down like field leadership was. I went back to school and got my Construction Management Bachelors degree from Weber State University. I took night courses for 4 years (20 credit hours) and worked full time and graduated with $0 college debt. I hold certifications from Manitowoc, OSHA, PMI-SP, AACE-PSP, AGC CM-Lean, Acumen Fuse and Risk Analysis certified. I also am a certified Lean Builder, a Registered Scrum Master and am certified in Advanced Work Packaging (AWP). I spent 10+ years planning and scheduling for multiple large GC's and personally had the opportunity to help to apply Takt in Construction to over 200 projects. I have taught thousands of individuals and organizations operational excellence and how to apply lean principles in the construction industry in 24 states in the US and in 11 countries abroad. I am currently directing the company efforts for 5S, Last Planner and Takt Planning at Mortenson Construction one of the largest US based General Contractors.
