I really just find problems and then solve them, whether through IT or SOP, matters little to me. Here's an example. Quite a number of my clients hired me because they didn't know why their company wasn't as profitable as they thought it should be. I looked over books, found and fixed billing issues permanently through changing billing systems to fit better and a few SOP's and made sure the owner knew that the SOP's had to be followed or they would be in the same position in a few years. Securing 200% of previous revenue in < 1 yr without changing anything to the product. This doesn't happen every time, but when it does, it's wonderful to see. And solutions like that aren't a fix to just one thing. The billing software was so well integrated that the IT crew(not my people) had less to do with managing infrastructure, allowing them to work on future product infrastructure, saving them even more money and time!
