Dr. Thomas Grayden, MD maintains an active private practice in Scottsdale, Arizona as well as in Orange County, California specializing in the diagnosis and treatment of mood and anxiety disorders as well as psychotic disorders. Dr. Grayden is also currently the Medical Director of Behavioral Health for Heritage Provider Network. He is a physician who is double boarded by the American Board of Neurology and Psychiatry in General and Forensic Psychiatry. Dr. Grayden maintains an active private practice in Scottsdale, Arizona as well as in Orange County, California specializing in the diagnosis and treatment of mood and anxiety disorders as well as psychotic disorders. Dr. Grayden is also currently the Medical Director of Behavioral Health for Heritage Provider Network. He is a physician who is double boarded by the American Board of Neurology and Psychiatry in General and Forensic Psychiatry. Dr. Grayden graduated from Arizona State University for premedical studies with a major in Zoology and minor in chemistry, then returned to his home state of Minnesota to attend medical school at the University of Minnesota School of Medicine, then completed a rotating medical internship at UC Davis, then completed a psychiatry residency program at UC Irvine School of Medicine, and then went on to complete a Fellowship in Forensic Psychiatry at Keck School of Medicine of USC. Upon completion of the forensic fellowship, he was recruited to return to UC Irvine to become full time faculty leading up to appointment as Clinical Professor in the Department of Psychiatry and Human Behavior. He had served as the Medical Director of Outpatient Psychiatric Services at UC Irvine Medical Center for over 15 years and developed and later became the Director of the Forensic Psychiatry Fellowship Program at UC Irvine School of Medicine. Dr. Grayden is currently a volunteer clinical professor in the Department of Psychiatry at UC Irvine School of Medicine teaching psychiatry residents about the field forensic psychiatry and expert witness testimony He remains Chief of Forensic Psychiatry at UC Irvine Medical Center. He has also served as co-investigator with Dr. Steven Potkin at the UC Irvine School of Medicine in numerous clinical research studies in Schizophrenia, Bipolar Disorder, Major Depression, and Dementia, utilizing functional MRI and PET brain imaging studies. He continues to serve as an expert witness in psychiatry in Orange County Superior Court testifying in well over 10,000 cases involving civil or criminal court cases.
