This venture culminated in being the Airport Manager at one of the Air Force’s most complex airfield, Elmendorf AFB. With a distinguished career spanning over 18 years in the Department of the Air Force, I have dedicated my adult life to the overall management of military airfield operations, analogous to a combination of airside operations and FBO in the civilian sector. My extensive experience ensures a safe, efficient, and effective airfield environment for aircraft operations across various global settings. Current Role: Presently, I am spearheading the development and design of an integrated air taxi system utilizing eVSTOL aircraft (electric passenger-ready large quadcopters) on Veriports. This cutting-edge project aims to revolutionize urban air mobility, integrating advanced technology to enhance transportation efficiency and sustainability. Overall Experience: Throughout my career, I have: - Conducted design reviews of airfield construction projects to ensure compliance with airfield design criteria and evaluated the operational impacts on aircraft. - Supervised and performed a wide array of airfield management functions and activities. - Ensured the safety of airfield operations through meticulous safety inspections and coordination of all airfield activities and maintenance. - Coordinated with aircrews, air traffic control, and various base agencies to facilitate the safe operation of aircraft within the airfield environment and through national and international airspace. - Prepared operating directives and memorandums for airfield management activities. - Performed expeditionary airfield management functions in support of the USAF Agile Combat Support Concept of Operations for worldwide deployment of DoD aircraft. - Monitored and inspected airfields for compliance with USAF, FAA, DoD, and international safety standards. - Ensured the proper installation & operation of navigational aids, meteorological equipment, airfield lighting, directional signs, and markings. - Identified airfield obstructions and ensured safe distances to fixed or mobile obstacles. - Conducted surface evaluations of airfield pavements to detect and prevent potential hazards. - Identified unsafe conditions and ensured the proper configuration of aircraft arresting systems. - Planned & implemented environmental control measures to mitigate airfield wildlife hazards. - Coordinated host-tenant support agreements and snow removal operations. - Planned and coordinated airfield construction and repair projects, overseeing all activities to maintain a safe operating environment. - Directed and assisted aircrews with information and services to accomplish operational activities related to airfield management and aircraft maintenance.
