Chief Whiting presently holds the position of Fire Chief in Pleasant Township, Ohio. With a career spanning over 38 years in the fire and emergency services sector, Whiting's journey began in 1987 with the Columbus Division of Fire. Throughout his tenure, he has undertaken various roles, including emergency operations, special operations chief, safety chief, public information officer, administration, and his last assignment as the Chief Fire Marshal. His extensive experience and expertise have allowed for the implementation of effective emergency operations strategies, enhanced safety protocols, and streamlined administrative processes. His unwavering dedication and tireless efforts have significantly raised the bar for excellence within the local fire and emergency services industry. Chief Whiting presently acts as a contracted instructor at the National Fire Academy, focusing on leadership, safety, and community risk reduction programs. Additionally, he provides instruction in Incident Command System (ICS) and position-specific courses for FEMA and the State of Ohio. Beyond these roles, he has contributed to NFPA committees and various committees in the Columbus Metropolitan Area. His enduring passion lies in advocating for and enhancing the tools, training, and resources available to the first responder community.
