My name is Dashius Clay. I am most known for being an artist and producer, but in reality that is probably the smallest part of who I am and what I do. I am the owner of a music label called PLTNM who has surpassed 100 million streams in the past 5 years, PLTNM SUPPLY which is a clothing line who now does merchandise collaborations with many known artists, RDBRN which is an award winning sneaker company that is gearing up to release their 5th international drop, and am a manager and VIP Sound Engineer at MixMasters Studios Miami. On a daily basis I juggle through numerous tasks that I have learned or mastered through pure necessity. When I started my career in music, I was tired of paying people to get mediocre results so I took matters into my own hands and signed up for Music Engineering school in Miami. Once I learned how to record and mix myself, I had to learn how to make graphics, edit video, distribute music, create marketing campaigns, meet DJs, finance, mange tours, and countless more jobs. I have been in the business for about 15 years and I know from my own personal experience just how difficult this industry is, but I also know how promising and successful it can become if you take the time to listen, learn, and apply that information to your own career. Every business I own is different than the other, but they are also very similar. They all need a plan, they all need investment, they all need a logo, they all need a website, etc….. In todays world, these are not all just possible, but can most of the time be self created and managed if you know the right places to look. My clothing brand started with printing my own clothes out of my kitchen. I had a very successful 6 months and then didn’t get a single sale for the next 4. I failed and realized that I wasn’t hands on enough, wasn’t utilizing everything at my disposal, marketing, running ads, listening to my clients, and much more. I lost my first recording studio to bad business and my second to a flood. I did graphics on the side for 25% of what most people charged, only to find out when I drastically raised my price because I finally realized my worth, I gained better clients and better money. These are just a few stories of me and my career. It hasn’t always been winning. It took a lot of trial and error, a lot of faith, and a whole lot of determination to want to be the best.
