About Me
I'm currently the Technical Director and Lecturer at the MIT Game Lab (https://gamelab.mit.edu ). We teach students and researchers about game design and computer game development. We also help researchers and professionals use games and game design to further their own research and projects. This process usually involved "purposeful" game design, where the end goal is something more than pure enjoyment. This requires me to quickly understand what someone needs, even if that means learning new technology, science, or sociopolitical concepts. I have also been a software engineer inside and outside the games industry. I've done a bit of everything, from AI to underwater robotics. I can advise on software architecture and all of the hip new AI techniques (e.g. ChatGPT), as well as providing emergency debugging assistance. Finally, having worked with well over a hundred software teams (student and professional), I can advise individuals and managers on team dynamics and project planning.
