I am an engineer and an inventor, with just enough philosophy to be dangerous. Seriously, I was fortunate to have a classical education in college included philosophy, liberal arts, and of course, engineering courses. I have often said that the philosophy part of my education had more impact on my engineering career and any other technical courses. I have had a particular focus on what I call the “knowledge process”. My training in classical logic intercepted my love for math. I have had a 40 year career in R&D and product development. What I have discovered and refined in the knowledge process has not only brought clarity to the mission for innovation and product design, but I found that it’s essential in trying to navigate the truths about our world and our society. I have seven children and 10 grandchildren and I have a deep appreciation for emotional intelligence and healthy relationships. I am a leader of teams, and I have a deep understanding of optimizing team dynamics in the pursuit of knowledge, which is the foundation for innovation and product design. I am committed to a healthy and effective knowledge process built on the principles of intellectual humility. I understand the power of intellectual collaboration of teams that bring together the collective knowledge base and talent of open-minded team. If I write a book or start a podcast, it will most likely be focused on the knowledge process and should be titled “Knowledge is a Team Sport”. My expertise is in helping people or companies build high-performance teams or a world of rapidly advancing technologies. For companies to truly thrive, they need to focus on effective knowledge process within a healthy organizational culture that is committed to a mission of continual learning and growing together.
