James Edward O'Keefe is an American investigative journalist who founded Project Veritas, in addition to his current organization, O’Keefe Media Group (OMG). O'Keefe and OMG have produced undercover recorded audio and video encounters in academic, governmental, and social service organizations, exposing malfeasance by representatives of those organizations. O'Keefe first gained national attention for his recordings of workers at Association of Community Organizations for Reform Now (ACORN) offices in 2009, which ultimately led to the organization’s termination.
